In this section, I have included video recordings made all over the Basque Country. Speakers talk about the jobs and their hobbies. They all speak in their own dialect, but, in the speech of some young speakers, in particular, there is a clear influence from Standard Basque. In fact, to a greater or lesser extent, that influence is present in all the recorded conversations. There are obvious reasons for that: the fact that the speakers know that their speech is being recorded, the fact that this is a formal conversation with an interviewer who may be unknown the the speaker or who speaks a different dialect... All these are factors that may contribute to the speakers' using a way of talking that differs from their everyday informal speech. In any case, I believe these video recordings can be useful to illustrate how the Basque language is and how Basque speakers are at the beginning of the 20th century.
